East Greenbush police and the school district are working together on the case, which also ends Columbia's chance at a record 5-0 start to the season.

2. 17-year-old struck by car in East Greenbush hit-and-run; police search for vehicle (news10.com) β East Greenbush police are investigating a Wednesday evening hit-and-run on Columbia Turnpike near Discovery Drive, where a 17-year-old pedestrian was struck by a red SUV that fled west toward Rensselaer. Residents who saw anything or have dashcam or home security video from around 7:21 p.m. are urged to contact the East Greenbush Police Department to help identify the vehicle and driver.

Port of Albany-Rensselaer, NY CEO Hendrick unanimously elected as Chairman of AAPA (ajot.com) β Port of Albany-Rensselaer CEO Richard Hendrick has been elected chair of the American Association of Port Authorities, a major leadership role for ports across the Western Hemisphere. For East Greenbush residents, he's also a longtime volunteer firefighter and board member with the W.F. Bruen Hose Company, tying this national recognition back to a familiar local department.

DEC euthanizes 600-pound bull moose captured in Troy (wnyt.com) β A wandering bull moose that had been spotted along I-90 in East Greenbush was ultimately euthanized after its health declined while wildlife experts tried to relocate it. State environmental officials say they monitored the 600βpound animal for nearly a day before deciding it could not recover, and they're urging residents to give moose and other wildlife plenty of space and report sightings.
