29 East Islip High School Students Named AP Scholars

"We are proud of all of our AP Scholars who have demonstrated their terrific work ethic throughout their years here."

From the East Islip School District: A total of 29 current East Islip High School students were named AP Scholars for 2017 by the College Board, whose Advanced Placement Program recognizes several different award levels for outstanding college-level student academic achievement, displayed via AP courses and exams.

Seniors Thomas Allen, Thomas Hopkins, Zachary Schurman, Kevin Varga and Matthew Wenk were named 2017 AP Scholar with Distinction, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Seniors Sarah Bloom, Jason Burke, Elena Buser, Katherine Golini, Evan Mauner, Elisa Mingo and Katrina Shea were named 2017 AP Scholars with Honor, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams.

Seniors Jake Acocella, Claudia Banville, Joseph Bauco, Michael Connolly, Patrick Connolly, Brendan Cutrone, Joseph DeLisi, John Diorio, Antonio Ditta, Courtney Herrera, Kerri Kolensky, Grace Lawrence, Autumn Nelson, Bailey Nelson, Angela Schock and Rachel Verdi, and junior James Smalley were named 2017 AP Scholars, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3 or higher on three or more AP exams.

β€œWe are proud of all of our AP Scholars, who have demonstrated their terrific work ethic throughout their years here,” said Israel Malinowitzer, director of guidance. β€œEast Islip is a strong supporter of the AP courses that we offer at the high school, and every year we continue to see more and more students interested in applying for these rigorous courses.”
