6 East Islip Seniors To Play Collegiate Lacrosse

Six students from East Islip High School committed to play lacrosse for college this fall.

EAST ISLIP, NY β€” Six students from East Islip High School will officially play lacrosse on the collegiate level this fall.

Seniors Ryan Bauco, Stephen DeAmicis, Gavin Herzog, Cole Juengerkes, Jack Kern and Nicholas Perone – signed national letters of intent on December 8 to continue their athletic careers.

Bauco will attend Stevenson University, majoring in business finance. A four-year varsity starter on attack, he earned Scholar-Athlete designation all four years of his high school career. In the 2021 season, Bauco led the team in goals and received the Coaches Award. A three-sport varsity athlete, Bauco is a member of East Islip’s basketball and football teams, winning the Suffolk County championship this year as a member of the latter, and also played travel lacrosse for East Coast Elite. In academics, Bauco was named an AP Scholar, earned high honor roll designation and is a member of the Foreign Language Honor Society.

DeAmicis will attend Adelphi University, majoring in physical education and health. The defenseman earned honor roll designation every quarter. Herzog will also attend Adelphi, majoring in business finance. The midfielder earned All-County honors in his junior year.

Juengerkes will attend Felician University, majoring in business law. The defenseman, a member of East Islip lacrosse for more than seven years, also played for the Long Island Rush Lacrosse club team.

Kern will attend Pace University, majoring in business finance. The goalie, a four-year varsity player, was named Suffolk County Class B Division 2 Most Valuable Player and awarded Player of the Game in a playoff win. He boasts a 71 percent save percentage and made 166 saves in his junior year. In academics, he earned honor roll designation.

Perone will attend Pace University, joining the school’s physician’s assistant program. The defenseman earned All-Division honors in his junior year. In academics, Perone was named an AP Scholar and earned honor roll distinction every quarter.
