• Steps Against Melanoma Walk Long Island (nyp.org) — East Islip residents can join a free melanoma awareness walk at Heckscher State Park on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2026, with check-in starting at 9 a.m. The 5K fun run/walk features free skin screenings, family activities, and educational resources, while raising funds for melanoma research and support programs that directly benefit patients and caregivers.
