Driver Hospitalized After Crashing Into Pole In East Islip

The woman lost control and crashed into the pole, causing it to break early Friday.

EAST ISLIP, NY - A woman was hospitalized after crashing into a utility pole in East Islip early Friday, according to Suffolk Police.

The woman was driving eastbound on East Main Street, near Secatogue Avenue, at 12:30 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road, and crashed into the pole, police said.

The crash caused the pole to break.

The driver was transported by Islip Fire Department to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of apparent minor injuries.

A PSEG spokesperson said that crews are currently on-site and setting a new pole is being set.

Crews will be working through the day to reinstall the wires.
