East Islip Appoints New Director of Special Education
The East Islip School District announced Tuesday that Krista Legge will serve as director of special education.

EAST ISLIP, NY — The East Islip School District has a new director of special education.
The district announced Tuesday that Krista Legge was appointed to fill the role.
Legge previously served as the Rocky Point School District’s assistant director of pupil personnel services. She has more than 15 years of special education experience, including working as a special education teacher, behavior specialist, and regional special education trainer for Suffolk County. She is also an author, publishing the children’s book “The Comfy Spot” earlier this year.

“Each child is unique and requires an environment where they have access to a multitude of opportunities to inspire and foster their strengths and passions,” Legge said.
A Mount Sinai resident, Legge earned her undergraduate degree in early childhood education from SUNY Plattsburgh, a master’s degree in inclusive special education from Hofstra University, an advanced degree in applied behavior analysis from LIU Post and an advanced certification in educational leadership from Stony Brook University.
