EAST ISLIP, NY - From East Islip School District: East Islip High School’s boys and girls varsity bowling teams were both named 2019 Suffolk County champions, winning at the Section XI Championship tournament held on Feb. 2 at Bowlero Lanes in Sayville.
The boys team, led by Aaron Rice and Joseph Zagari, finished with a perfect 14-0 season and won the county title for the third year in a row. The girls team likewise ended with an impeccable 10-0 record, with Julia Bocamazo and Julianna Spina earning second and third place in Long Island girls bowling average, respectively, for the regular season.
Both teams will move on to compete in the state bowling championships in Syracuse on the weekend of March 8-10.
