East Islip Drunk Driver Had BAC More Than 2X Legal Limit: Police

The 47-year-old was arrested and charged with driving drunk over the weekend, police say.

TOWN OF ISLIP, NY - A drunk East Islip man was caught driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) over twice the legal limit in the Town of Islip over the weekend, according to State Police.

On Saturday, 47-year-old Ameer Bashar was driving eastbound on the Southern State Parkway when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic violation at about 1:30 p.m., police said.

Investigation revealed Bashar to be intoxicated with a BAC of .18 percent, over twice the legal limit of .08 percent, police said.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI.

He was later released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Suffolk County First District Court.
