East Islip Figure Skater Places In State-Wide Competition

EAST ISLIP, NY — An East Islip High School student recently placed in a state-wide competition for figure skating.

Vanessa Rossa won a gold and bronze medal at the Empire State Winter Games, held Feb. 3 through Feb. 6 in Lake Placid.

Rossa competed in figure skating in the pre-juvenile girls excel level, winning first place, and in synchronized skating in the open juvenile level for Team Rinx, in which her team placed third.

The ESWG is the largest multi-sport amateur athletic winter sporting event in North America.
