East Islip Girls Track Take First Ever Division Win
For the first time ever, the track and field team took first place in Suffolk's Division III for the 2021 season.

EAST ISLIP, NY βFor the first time in East Islip's history, the girls track and field team are this year's division champions. The team, led by coach John Reynolds and assistant coach Jaqueline Bernard finished 2021 on top of their league and division.
Bea Huste-Petersen's daughter Joy was on the team and it was a proud moment for her mother.

"For the first time in East Islip track and field history, the girls track and field team won the Suffolk Division III championships! What an incredible moment for the team and their coach," Huste-Petersen told Patch.
Joy Petersen, a junior, whose father is late former U.S. record holder in the marathon Pete Petersen, won her division in the steeplechase. She was also second in the division in the 1500 and she anchored the winning 4 x 800 meter relay.
