East Islip High School senior Brandon Mahon signed a national letter of intent on Feb. 23 to play baseball at Pennsylvania State University this fall. He will attend Penn State’s York campus, where he plans to major in business.

The outfielder and pitcher has been involved in numerous community service outreach events since elementary school, including the high school’s STARS program; Long Island Cares; From the Heart’s Adopt-a-Family program, where he helped remodel a house; and the Polar Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics.
