Elementary School Students Learn Sign Language

John F. Kennedy Elementary School fourth-graders used American Sign Language to communicate to their peers.

EAST ISLIP, NY - From the East Islip Union Free School District: Reciting the alphabet became a challenging and exciting task for fourth-graders at East Islip’s John F. Kennedy Elementary School who recently were using American Sign Language to communicate to their peers.

“The children were thrilled to share the letters that they learned and the new words that they could use as they ‘signed’ to one another,” said Principal Deborah Smith.
