Motorcyclist Dies In East Islip Crash Early Sunday: Police

He struck a tree and then a utility pole, police say.

EAST ISLIP, NY — A motorcyclist killed in a single-vehicle crash in East Islip early Sunday, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, a 31-year-old man was driving a 2016 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Main Street, near Harrison Avenue, when it left the roadway, striking a tree and then a utility pole at about 1:20 a.m.

The man, whose name is not being released pending notification of next of kin, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check, police said.
