New Starbucks Coming To East Islip

EAST ISLIP, NY - A new Starbucks will be coming to East Islip soon.

The new coffee shop will replace the Chase Bank in the shopping center on 2650 Sunrise Highway which houses Stop & Shop, Staples, Marshalls, Applebee's and more.

An opening date has not yet been announced but construction is underway.

The new Starbucks will have a drive-through, outdoor seating and parking spots for 19 cars.

Some residents expressed concern regarding how the new coffee joint will affect the traffic in the area during a public meeting last April, according to a report in the Islip Bulletin.

“Traffic on that service road between 4 and 5 p.m. all the way to the Oakdale merge is a nightmare,” a Bel-Cul Court resident said.

The attorney for the applicant of the zoning change addressed the resident's concerns during the meeting.

"The fact of the matter is that most of those cars are already on the road," he said. "What I’m hearing between the lines is that [this] lady prefers that the building be vacant forever, and I don’t think that really serves anyone. That’s not good for my client, not good for the town or its residents, and we obviously want that building to be used.”
