Congratulations to the student-musicians!

From E. Islip Schools: Seven stellar East Islip High School students were recently named All- Eastern musicians and chosen to participate in the National Association for Music Education’s Eastern Division Conference ensemble concerts, to be held in April in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After being selected for the New York State All-State Conference, the seven students were picked by NAfME from a pool of musicians from 11 different states from Maine to Maryland. They were recognized at East Islip’s Jan. 10 board of education meeting.

Alexandra Stewart (flute) will perform with the All-Eastern Band; Victoria Keenan (violin) will perform with the All-Eastern Orchestra; Alexandra Bertolini (soprano) will perform with the All-Eastern Treble Choir; and Emily DaSilva (soprano), Karina Gallagher (alto), Katelyn Spina (alto) and Victoria Tiernan (soprano) will perform with the All-Eastern Mixed Choir. “The application process is intensive and the competition is very high,” said band director Christopher Neske. “We couldn’t be prouder of these incredible student musicians and of the East Islip Music Department for being so well represented this year at the All-Eastern Conference.”
