Gas Leak Reported At East Islip High School
Police received a call of a small leak at the school on Wednesday morning.

ISLIP TERRACE, NY - A small gas leak was reported at East Islip High School on Wednesday morning.
Suffolk Police confirmed they received a call from the school on 1 Redmen Street before 10 a.m. for a report of a gas leak.
It appears that the leak came from a lab and the gas was shut off, police said.

According to a statement from the Superintendent of Schools John Dolan, students were evacuated to East Islip Middle School while police and the local fire department responded.
After the all-clear was given about 15 minutes later, the students returned to the building and the school day proceeded as usual.

No injuries were reported.
"The health and safety of our students is our top priority, and we want to thank the local volunteers for responding so quickly and everyone involved for their cooperation and understanding," Dolan said in the statement.
