Suffolk Police Conduct Sweep At East Islip High School
The sweep was part of an initiative to "help combat the drug/opioid epidemic," according to a message from the school.

EAST ISLIP, NY - Suffolk Police conducted a sweep at East Islip High School on Thursday morning.
According to a message from the Superintendent of Schools John V. Dolan, the police performed the sweep at about 9:30 a.m. as part of an effort to "keep students safe and encourage them to make good choices."
"The Suffolk County Police Department offers this as a service and deterrent to help combat the drug/opioid epidemic," Dolan wrote in the message. "We fully support and commend Suffolk Police for this initiative. You will be receiving an update after the conclusion."

All students were safe in the classrooms and did not come in any contact with the police dogs during the sweep.
