Teen Killed In Motorcycle Crash

The 19-year-old crashed his motorcycle while driving on a LI parkway Saturday afternoon. A fundraiser was created to help his family.

EAST ISLIP, NY - An East Islip teen was killed after crashing his motorcycle on the Hecksher State Parkway on Saturday afternoon, according to State Police.

According to police, the 19 year-old was driving a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound in the right lane of the Heckscher State Parkway just north of Timber Point Road when he lost control and was ejected around 2:30 p.m.

The motorcycle continued onto the right shoulder where it struck a tree and came to rest. The driver was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he succumbed to his injuries.

A GoFundMe account created by an East Islip resident identified the driver as Chris Werth.

The fundraiser was created to raise $5,000 for Werth's family to help pay for funeral expenses. As of Monday, the page has raised a total of $8,865.

"Chris was one of the funniest people I have ever met and had such a contagious spirit," the creator of the GoFundMe, James Lopiccolo wrote on the page .
