WATCH: Horse Rescued From Islip Terrace Cesspool

Police and firefighters saved the horse from drowning Thursday afternoon.

ISLIP TERRACE, NY – Police and firefighters saved a horse from drowning in a collapsed cesspool on Long Island Thursday afternoon.

Suffolk Police responded to a call at about 3:50 pm. after a horse fell into the cesspool in the backyard of a home on Oceanside Street in Islip Terrace.

The horse, which was up to its neck in water and waste when police arrived, was rescued by personnel from the SCPD Emergency Service Unit and the Islip Terrace Fire Department.

The Islip Town Technical Rescue Team, Islip Fire Department, Central Islip Fire Department and the SPCA also responded and aided in the rescue.
