Woman Arrested After Damaging Jesus Statue At East Islip Church: Police
A woman damaged a statue at St. Mary's Church last week, Suffolk police said.

EAST ISLIP, NY — A woman was arrested Wednesday after police said she damaged a statue of Jesus at an East Islip church last week.
According to Suffolk County police, the statue was damaged at St. Mary’s Church, at 118 East Main St., at about 11:15 p.m. on May 15.
Following an investigation by Hate Crimes Unit detectives, Deyonna Subert was arrested outside 221 W. Main St. in Bay Shore around 6:39 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

Subert, 41, who police said is undomiciled, was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, police said.
She was held overnight at the Fourth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
