ISLIP TERRACE, NY - East Islip school officials are investigating after writing was found at a local elementary school indicating that a student wanted to harm themselves, according to a letter from Superintendent John V. Dolan.

The writing was discovered in the boy's bathroom on Tuesday at Ruth C. Kinney Elementary School, Dolan wrote.

"Upon finding this writing, administrators launched an exhausting investigation and were not able to definitively identify the student," the letter reads. "Therefore, we were not able to determine if this was a serious statement or a childhood prank."
