EAST VILLAGE, NY — A popular dumpling spot in the East Village is closing its doors after more than 10 years in business.
Mimi Cheng's, located at 179 2nd Avenue, will officially close on Friday, Sept. 11, its owners disclosed that their lease had ended in a social media post.
"To every person who's come through our doors, made Mimi's part of your weekly rotation, or visited us from near or far, and to every chef, restaurant partner, and supplier who's been on this journey with us, thank you. This 12 year story was built by you, and we're endlessly grateful."
Mimi Cheng's owners said while the storefront will close they are hoping to further scale their nationwide frozen dumpling business.
"Our focus is now scaling, so Mimi Cheng's can land on a lot more tables than one restaurant ever could."
In addition, until Sept. 11, Mimi Cheng's is bringing back a beloved collaboration: The Emmy Burger Dumpling — which was created with Pizza Loves Emily.
