East Village Cyclist Killed In Midtown Hit-And-Run, Police Say
The 72-year-old man lived on First Avenue, police say.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — An East Village cyclist was killed by a hit-and-run driver in Midtown Monday, police said.
Chaim Joseph, 72, was cycling northbound on Eighth Ave. just before 6 a.m. As he was turning left onto W. 45th St., a 2013 Green Western Star truck also turning left hit him. The driver left the scene, police said.
Police found Joseph conscious with injuries next to his bicycle. He was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said Tuesday afternoon an investigation by the Highway Patrol Collision Investigation Squad is ongoing.
The man lived on First Ave. at St. Mark's Place, according to police.
