Gunman Beats Victim To A Pulp For Cell Phone: NYPD
The man revealed a firearm and demanded his victim's cell phone, police said.
EAST VILLAGE — A man attempted to rob another man with a gun and beat him up, causing multiple cuts to his head, police said.
Just before 6 a.m. on Thurs., Jan. 17, the victim, a 28-year-old man, was walking near 13th St. and 3rd Ave., according to police.
The other man walked up to him and showed him a gun — demanding his cell phone, police said. The victim refused to hand it over, and the man then beat him up, cutting his head open in multiple places, police said.

The man ultimately fled without stealing anything, according to police.
Police said emergency medical services took the victim to Bellevue Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The man is described as black, 20- to 30-years-old, and was last seen with a yellow and blue hooded jacket, black pants, and grey sneakers, according to police.
