Man Found Dead In The East River: NYPD

Police said the man was approximately in his 50s and had no apparent signs of trauma.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Officers found a man dead in the East River Friday morning, police said.

Just before 8 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a 911 caller of a man in the East River near E. 6th St. in the Ninth Precinct, according to police. Officers found him unconscious and unresponsive.

The NYPD Harbor Unit took the man to Pier 17, where emergency services pronounced the man dead on the scene, police said.

The man appeared to be approximately in his 50s, was wearing clothes, and had no apparent signs of trauma, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing, and the identification of the man has not been released. The Medical Examiner is determining the cause of death.
