New Applicant For Former Belgian Room In East Village
The bar space at 121 St. Mark's Place has been empty since 2015.
EAST VILLAGE, NY — Community Board 3 recently released it's schedule of February meetings, which lists an applicant for a long-vacant bar space on St. Mark's Place near Avenue A.
The calendar shows the SLA & DCA Licensing Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 6 in the Thelma Burdick Community Room at 10 Stanton St. They'll discuss the applicant for 121 St. Mark's Place, who's simply listed as Mr. White of Mr. White LLC.
The space at 121 St. Mark's Place last housed the Belgian Room, which was known for it's dark and cozy feel, casual American fare and vast selection of beers. Belgian Room and it's sister bar Hop Devil Grill were both slapped with "SEIZED" stickers and closed for nonpayment taxes in April 2015, neighborhood blog EV Grieve reports.
