New Bar, FKA, Opens In The East Village: See Inside

NEW YORK CITY — FKA, short for “Formerly Known As,” is now officially open at 221 Second Avenue in the East Village.

The new bar, created by hospitality veterans Zak Snyder, Aram Sabet and Kyle O’Brien, along with entrepreneur Emerson Taymor, pays homage to New York City nightlife with a mix of craft cocktails, cold beer and food.

The bar had previously hosted a soft opening before launch in July.

The menu draws from New York City street food and street food traditions around the world.

Offerings include East Coast oysters, smoked crawfish and scallop ceviche, lamb tartare, pimento cheese, Frito pie and a house-blend burger called “Royale With Cheese.”

Desserts include Café Loup chocolate pudding and a Bomb Pop.

Cocktails include signature drinks such as the Amanda Lepore, Basquiat and Wu-Tang, along with classics including piña coladas, strawberry daiquiris and Miami Vices. The bar also serves wines from regions including Uruguay, Turkey, South Africa, Western Australia, the Mosel, Oregon and Argentina, as well as beers including Miller High Life, Budweiser, Lone Star, Sapporo, Singha and Tsingtao.

The space features vintage CBGB posters, ticket stubs, postcards, a 1990s Super Soaker and an original Nintendo Entertainment System, with dark wood, exposed brick, tin ceilings and multicolored lighting.

FKA is open daily from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m.
