New Italian Spot, Recente, Opens In East Village
Recente takes over the space that previously housed Italian restaurant Cacio e Pepe.
EAST VILLAGE — A new Italian restaurant and aperitivo bar recently opened in the East Village.
Recente opened at 182 Second Ave. between East 11th and 12th streets last week.
The restaurant is the first independent concept from managing partners Willem Hock and Lukas Canan.

Recente has 60 seats in its dining room and bar, along with a 30-seat rear courtyard and 16 sidewalk seats.
The restaurant is expected to launch Weekend brunch in September.

Australian chef Monty Koludrovic serves as culinary consultant.
Menu highlights include: pappardelle with XO oxtail ragù, oysters with prosecco mignonette, pickled mussels with salsa verde and Meyer lemon and Tomato and Peach Salad with Shiso and Verbena Vinaigrette.
Recente is open Tuesday through Saturday:
Tuesday: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Wednesday: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Thursday: 5 p.m. to midnight
Friday: 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Saturday: 12 p.m. to midnight
