New Restaurant Applies for Former Redhead Space in East Village
East Side Tavern is proposing to open a new restaurant at 349 E. 13th St., where The Redhead resided for ten years.
EAST VILLAGE, NY — The iconic Southern comfort food restaurant The Redhead closed it's doors Dec. 17 after ten years in service. As of Monday, there's already paperwork up on the front door from a new applicant trying to get a liquor license, neighborhood blog EV Grieve reports.
East Side Tavern is the applicant proposing to open a new restaurant at 349 E. 13th St., according to EV Grieve. The applicant's questionnaire with more details about East Side Tavern hasn't been posted to the CB3 website yet.
The CB3 SLA committee meeting is 6:30 p.m. Jan 9 at 10 Stanton St. at the Bowery, the blog reports. East Village residents will possibly hear more about the East Side Tavern then.

The Redhead's 10-year lease was up, and there was reportedly a rent increase at the location. The partners apparently live out of state as well, as Chef and founding partner Meg Grace Larcom now lives in Colorado.
