NYPD Searches For Gunman After East Village Shooting

Police are still looking for the gunman who shot and killed a man in the East Village on Friday.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — Police are still hunting the gunman who shot and killed a man in the East Village on Friday afternoon.

On Friday night, police identified the dead man as Malik Campbell. Authorities say that Campbell was killed during an argument near 118 Avenue D, part of the Jacob Riis public housing complex. Campbell, 23, was found with a gunshot wound to his head before he was pronounced dead at nearby Bellevue hospital.

Police have not yet arrested Campbell's attacker or attackers, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not provided any details about the dispute that preceded the shooting.
