Pedestrians Lift Van Off Woman Hit in Alphabet City

Bystanders raced over and were able to free the woman, who is being treated for "serious trauma."

ALPHABET CITY, NY — A van from Busy Bee Cleaning and Janitorial Services hit a woman as she was crossing East Sixth Street near Avenue D on Tuesday afternoon, according to the FDNY.

Paramedics received a call at 12:28 pm with reports of a pedestrian who had been struck by a car. In the meantime, stunned bystanders reportedly ran over and were able to lift the van off the woman, according to the New York Daily News.

An FDNY spokesperson says that the woman was transported to Bellevue Hospital with serious trauma.

The driver of the van remained at the scene; no charges were immediately filed.

A spokesperson for Busy Bee Cleaning and Janitorial Services said that they were not authorized to provide any information at the moment.
