Repeat Muggers Snatch Purses, Cellphone In East Village: NYPD
A group of muggers has struck three times within the past week, according to police.
EAST VILLAGE — A group of muggers have robbed three different people on the sidewalk in the East Village in the past week, police said.
The spree became violent on Monday when a 24-year-old woman was walking home in front of 41 Cooper Square and the group pushed her to the ground at about 9:45 p.m., police said.
They snatched her purse, which had a wallet, makeup products, credit cards, and identification in side it, then fled eastbound on East Sixth Street, according to police.

Emergency medical services responded, and though she said she had back pain, she declined further medical attention, police said.
The group stole a 37-year-old woman's purse — which held a credit card, MetroCard, identification, headphones, and keys — near East Sixth Street and Avenue A at about 11 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Less than an hour later, the thieves surrounded a 27-year-old man at East 11th Street and First Avenue and stole his cellphone, according to police. Police said one man fled eastbound on E. 11th St.
No injuries were reported in the two Saturday muggings.
Police released photos of one suspect — whom they describe as a man wearing a sleeveless white vest and gray-hooded sweatshirt near Cooper Square — Thursday evening.
