Thief Stole Credit Card From Gym Locker And Spent $3K, Cops Say

A thief stole a woman's credit card from a gym locker on Astor Place, police said.

EAST VILLAGE, NY — A thief stole a woman's credit card from a gym locker on Astor Place, resulting in a $2,850 spending spree, police said.

A 22-year-old woman reported to police on March 6 that $2,850 worth of purchases were made on her credit card, police said.

She realized she was missing her credit card after the thousands of dollars of purchases were made, police said.

Further investigation revealed that Sunday, March 3, the woman's credit card was stolen from a locker at New York Sports Club, located at 4 Astor Pl., according to police.

About 8 p.m. that same Sunday, surveillance footage caught a man using the woman's credit card in the Macy's at Herald Square, police said.

Police said the man was described as approximately 25-years-old, 6-feet tall, with a medium build.
