Thieves Try To Snatch A Man's Cell Phone In East Village: NYPD

Three thieves pushed a man to the ground and attempted to steal his cell phone at Third Ave. and 11th St., police said.

EAST VILLAGE — Police are searching for three men who mugged a victim at Third Ave. and 11th St. on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old man was walking in the nearby 55 Third Ave. when three unknown men approached him, demanding his cell phone on Wednesday at about 7:45 a.m., police said.

The three men pushed the victim to the ground, punching him in the head and chest, according to police.

Police said the thieves were ultimately unable to snatch the man's cell phone and fled.

Police said the men were approximately in their 20s or 30s.

Surveillance footage of the men that police are searching for shows one wearing a red jacket and a face mask, a second wearing a black and white jacket with a white logo on the hood, and a third wearing a scarf with a dark-colored jacket with fur on the hood.
