2 Charged With Felony DWI In Hamptons: Cops

Both men were caught speeding and driving, with one man driving 95 mph and the other, 80 mph, while intoxicated, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Two men were charged with felony driving while intoxicated in East Hampton recently, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Juan P. Farez, 34, was arrested on March 30 at 3:23 a.m. on Fort Pond Boulevard after he was caught speeding 80 mph in a 30 mph zone, failing to stop at a stop sign, and failing to maintain his lane of travel. Upon contact, Farez was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and was unsteady on his feet, police said. He consented to, and performed poorly on, all standard field sobriety tests, police said.

He was arrested and charged with DWI, previous conviction of designated offense within last 10 years, a felony, police said. Cash bail was set at $1,000, police said.

Angel M. Guillen, 37, of Southampton, was arrested on March 31 at 7:52 p.m. after he drove a 2010 black Jeep westbound on Montauk Highway near Dune Lane in Amagansett; he was caught speeding 95 mph in a 55 mph zone, police said. He had the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and was unsteady on his feet, police said. He consented to, and performed poorly on, all standard field sobriety tests, police said. He was arrested and charged with DWI, previous conviction of designated offense within 10 years, a felony, and using a leased/rented/loaned vehicle not equipped with an interlock device, a misdemeanor, police said.

Bail was not yet posted, police said.
