2 Men Arrested After Burglarizing East Hampton Home: Police

The 2 men had been seen on a security camera inside the vacant home, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Two men were arrested after they burglarized an East Hampton home Monday, police said.

According to East Hampton Town police, on Monday at noon, a homeowner notified them that two men had observed on a security camera inside his vacant home. Responding officers located the two men matching the description located at a home nearby, police said. The two men were questioned by detectives before being charged, police said. Hand tools stolen from the home were later recovered, police said.

Thomas F. Sallie IV, 62, of Shirley, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary and fifth-degree possession of stolen property, police said. Michael J. Reith, 35, of Eastport, was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary, police said.

Both men were slated for arraignment Tuesday, police said.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the East Hampton Police Department's detective division at 631-537-6989.
