40 Juveniles Caught Drinking Alcohol; Parents Charged: Cops

Officers responded to the same house on October 31 for a drug overdose involving a different 15-year old, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Parents were charged after 40 juveniles were caught drinking at a house party in East Hampton, police said.

According to East Hampton Village Police, officers responded to a noise complaint on Dec. 27 at 9:19 p.m. at a home on The Circle. Officers found 30 to 40 juveniles inside and outside the residence having a party; the underaged kids were seen possessing and consuming alcohol, police said.

The majority of juveniles fled the scene when the police arrived, officials said. However, a 15-year old who lives at the residence was located by police — and the parents, Sylvia Flender, 52, and Daniel Meeks 51, were found in adjoining rooms, police said.

Both parents were charged with unlawfully dealing with a child and violating the Suffolk County Social Host Law, both misdemeanors, police said.

They were released and will be arraigned in East Hampton Town Court on January 9, police said.
