Project MOST, End End Lacrosse Set To Host 5th Annual Community Cup Golf Tournament

SHELTER ISLAND, NY— Project MOST and East End Lacrosse Club are set to host the 5th Annual Community Cup Golf Tournament.

The event will take place Monday, September 28 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Gardiners Bay Country Club, located at 12 Dinah Rock Road in Shelter Island Heights.

The annual fundraiser aims to raise $80,000 to support youth programming on the East End, organizers said.

The Community Cup Golf Tournament is a collaborative fundraiser presented by the two East Hampton-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, "which share a commitment to creating opportunities for local children and families to learn, grow and thrive," organizers said.

Project MOST provides "high-quality after-school, summer learning and community programs that enrich the lives of children and families in East Hampton. East End Lacrosse Club promotes the game of lacrosse to boys and girls across the East End, helping young athletes build confidence, character, teamwork and life skills through sport," organizers said.

The partnership between Project MOST and East End Lacrosse Club began organically, rooted in a shared commitment to creating more opportunities for local children.

EELC got its start on the grounds of the Neighborhood House, where Project MOST welcomed Ricky and Meredith Smith, co-founders of EELC, to organize pickup lacrosse practices and games for children ages 5 to 8.

What began as an introduction to the sport for young children has grown into an enduring collaboration between the two organizations, organizers said.

Today, their partnership continues to strengthen as Project MOST and EELC work together to give East End children greater access to enriching programs, positive mentorship and opportunities to learn, play, build confidence and connect with their community.

"Project MOST helps children grow, build self-esteem, make new friends, and have new experiences. The proceeds received at the Community Cup allows Project MOST to offer opportunities to local children by creating affordable access to quality programs, which is important to a child's learning experience," Rebecca Morgan, executive director of Project Most, said.

Now in its fifth year, the Community Cup brings together golfers, local businesses and community supporters for a day on the course while generating critical funding for both organizations.

Proceeds from the event will be shared between Project MOST and the East End Lacrosse Club and used to expand programs serving children and youth throughout the East End.

"Project MOST and East End Lacrosse Club grew out of the same basic idea: kids in our community should have great places to go, people who care about them, and opportunities to try new things and be part of something bigger than themselves. The support from the Community Cup helps us keep creating those opportunities, keep our programs accessible, and make sure more local kids have the chance to play, learn and belong," said Ricky and Meredith Smith, co-founders, East End Lacrosse Club.

In addition to tournament play, this year's Community Cup will feature a silent auction.

Businesses and individuals can also support the tournament through several sponsorship opportunities, including Lead Sponsor ($10,000), Gold Sponsor ($5,000), Silver Sponsor ($1,000) and Hole Sponsor ($500) levels. Sponsorship benefits vary by level and include opportunities such as tournament participation, event signage, recognition through social media and email communications, and recognition at the awards ceremony, organizers said.

Those who cannot attend the tournament can still support Project MOST and East End Lacrosse Club through donations.
