Operations Suspended At 2 East End Battery Storage Facilities: Romaine (patch.com) β East Hampton residents are seeing operations halted at the Cove Hollow Road battery storage facility and a related Montauk site after local officials pressed NextEra Energy over fire safety and groundwater contamination concerns. Town and county leaders are demanding removal of a problematic fire suppressant, stronger engineering safeguards, and a coordinated task force to protect public and private drinking water wells near the East Hampton Energy Storage Center.

East Hampton History Festival Travels Back in Time October 17 (danspapers.com) β East Hampton residents can step into Revolutionary-era life at the new History Festival on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mulford Farm. Expect reenactors, traditional crafts, children's games, Indigenous history, and a restored farmhouse that highlights how local families, including enslaved people, lived during the British occupation.

3. Wake Forest Looks to Earn Title at Hamptons Intercollegiate - Wake Forest University Athletics (godeacs.com) β A major collegiate golf field is teeing off at Maidstone Club in East Hampton, bringing ACC, SEC, Big Ten, Ivy League and other teams to the village starting Oct. 5. Wake Forest's men's team, fresh off a strong finish in Illinois, is chasing both team and individual titles on the historic oceanside course.

4. Hamptons Subway Launches Petite Film Noir Festival (danspapers.com) β Hamptons Subway is staging its own petite film noir festival right on the platforms, including the East Hampton stop, during Hamptons International Film Festival weekend. Classic noirs like Double Indemnity and The Maltese Falcon will screen at 9 p.m. with free popcorn, themed decorations, and some extra crowding to navigate around screens and folding chairs.
