EAST HAMPTON, NY — The Town of East Hampton has rescheduled its Community Shredding Day, following last weekend's postponement due to an unexpected mechanical breakdown involving the shredding truck.

The new event will be held on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at East Hampton Town Hall, located at 159 Pantigo Road.

The free event provides residents with an opportunity to securely dispose of outdated documents containing sensitive personal information, including bank statements, tax records and other confidential paperwork.

Residents are also reminded that the town will host a Drug Take Back Day at Town Hall on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Residents can safely and anonymously dispose of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications free of charge. Household pet medications will also be accepted.

Liquids, needles and sharps, and professional or business waste cannot be accepted.

Town officials said they appreciated residents' patience and understanding following the postponement of Community Shredding Day — and encouraged residents to take advantage of both events.
