ARF's 'Stroll To The Sea' Dog Walk, Fundraiser Coming Soon

The event, now in its 24th year, is a fun, family fall outing meant to benefit homeless pets.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A favorite fall fundraiser is set to unfold and benefit homeless four-footed friends in the Hamptons.

The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. will hold its 2017 annual “Stroll to the Sea” Dog Walk on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The family-friendly event, now in its 24th year, is aimed at promoting responsible dog ownership and awareness of ARF.

The 2-mile walk to the ocean and back will begin and end at the historic Mulford Farm, owned by the East Hampton Historical Society in East Hampton Village.

Dog walkers can register here. The pre-registration fee is $30 for adults, $35 day of the event, and free for children 13 and under with a registered adult.

Registration brochures are also available at the ARF Adoption Center in Wainscott, the ARF Thrift Shop in Sagaponack as well as many local merchants.

All registrants receive free nail clippings for their dogs, a free event T-shirt and tote bag and refreshments including Starbucks Coffee, Dreesen’s Famous Donuts and dog treats from South Fork Pet Company. This year’s tee shirt features artwork by designer Isaac Mizrahi.

The walk will be followed by contests such as "dog/companion look alike", "the pooch who can smooch," and "stupid pet tricks."

A dog agility course will be set up for all to try. Singer/songwriter Sandy Rapp will perform again this year, playing audience favorites on the guitar. A silent and Lucky #s auction with many products, services and experiences for owners and pets will also be offered.

The prizes for top fundraisers include a 2-night stay in club level room accommodations at The Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, Georgia, a summer share for the 2018 season at Amber Waves Farm in Amagansett, and an acrylic portrait of your pet by artist Ellen Silverberg.

The top child's prize, for 13 and under, is a bicycle from the Sag Harbor Cycle Company.

Everyone who collects $250 or more in pledges receives a special gift, courtesy of Isaac Mizrahi. Those who register at the $125 level or higher are invited to attend the kick-off cocktail party on Friday, October 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. hosted by Candy and Mark Udell of London Jewelers.

The dog contests and awards ceremony begin at 11 a.m. and the “Stroll to the Sea” festivities conclude at noon. A rain date for the event is set for Sunday, October 8, with an 8 a.m. registration and 9 a.m. walk.

The ARF mobile adoption van will lead the walkers to the ocean and back and will feature animals available for adoption.

The ARF Adoption Center is located at 124 Daniels Hole Road in Wainscott, next to the East Hampton Airport.
