August 8: CMEE Hosts Family Picnic at Mulford Farm

After some gloomy weather this weekend Monday promises to push the clouds away and usher in the sun. There’s plenty of things to check out on Patch today, from what you might have missed this weekend to breaking news.

1. Organizers have announced the set this upcoming weekend due to low ticket sales. The previous weekend’s Escape to New York Festival in Shinnecock didn’t draw very large crowds early on, but attendance picked up on the second day.

2. An airplane collided with a deer on the runway of East Hampton airport during landing Friday night. No one was hurt when the six-seater, carrying two male passengers and two children, on the south side of the runway.

3. The 20th Annual Sandcastle Tournament took place this weekend at Atlantic Avenue Beach in Amagansett. 5. The Children’s Museum of the East End is hosting a today to benefit the in East Hampton. The event will feature colonial-era games for kids, arts and crafts, colonial actors, music and more. The picnic will run from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and tickets cost $15 for children, $25 for adults.
