Bicyclist Struck By Car In East Hampton: Police

BREAKING: No charges were filed in the accident, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — A Vermont woman bicycling in East Hampton was struck by a car and injured Saturday, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, the accident took place at 8:39 p.m. when the driver, an East Hampton woman, began to make a left from Baiting Hollow Road onto Montauk Highway as the signal turned green and did not see the bicyclist, Deborah Donnelly, of Wiliston, VT, who was riding her bike straight across the intersection.

The vehicle hit the bicycle, which caused Donnelly to strike the windshield and driver's side pillar before rolling off onto the ground in front of the vehicle, police said.

The driver said she did not know what she had struck until she exited the vehicle and saw the woman lying on the ground, police said.

The bicyclist was transported by East Hampton Ambulance to the hospital but the extent her injuries was not immediately clear, police said.
