Happy Ending: Missing Chocolate Lab, Rocky, Found Safe

An Amagansett woman was thrilled to find her precious dog Rocky safe on Thursday.

AMAGANSETT, NY β€” In the happiest of updates, a missing chocolate Lab was found safe at the town's animal control facility Thursday.

Earlier, a heartbroken family whose dog went missing Wednesday had asked for the community's help to bring him home safely.

"Our chocolate baby went missing yesterday," said Jennifer Oehler. Rocky is a seven-year old chocolate Lab with a gray and white muzzle.

The person who'd been with him in the afternoon didn’t realize he'd gotten out until Oehler and her family came home last night around 9 p.m., she said.

"We live on Route 27 across the street from the Mobil station before Amagansett," she said. "He could be anywhere. It’s really not like him to run away. We’re worried sick," she'd said.

Oehler said she's left messages with animal control, ARF, and the police station, praying to find him.

"We drove around last night but it was so dark by then we couldn’t see anything, anyway. He’s very, very friendly and would come right to you if you called his name, especially if you have a dog with you. His family is distraught, and we’re praying he gets home safely."

Prayers were answered and Rocky is safe in his family's loving arms.
