What is more delightful to the senses of the discriminating art lover than to stroll the serpentine paths in a flowering garden and contemplate the beauty of sculpture? Now, such an opportunity is available at the Leiber Collection in Springs, East Hampton.

In gardens meticulously designed by modernist artist, Gerson Leiber, visitors can spend a summer afternoon not only enjoying numerous masterpieces of major sculptors, but one can also enjoy the beauties of nature assembled and planted to delight the senses of visitors.

And following a tour of the outdoors, one can enter the elegant Palladian-style Renaissance edifice that houses a glittering collection of Judith Leiber handbags, each a work of art; indeed, all are objets d'art declared Geoffrey Beene. In a second gallery are the dazzling fashion paintings of Gerson Leiber. His depictions have a Daumier-like satirical quality that adds a deliciously piquant tang to the exhibition

The Leiber Collection, comprising the sculpture garden and six other gardens, constitutes a jewel in the town of East Hampton; it is a jewel that attracts not only local residences and summer visitors, but art and fashion connoisseurs from all over the world.

The Leiber Collection is open free-of-charge to visitors every Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday from Memorial Day to Labor Day from 1 PM to 4 PM. It is located at 446 Old Stone Highway, Springs, East Hampton, NY. The website is www.leibercollection.org
