Assuming the role on September 1, she will manage day-to-day operations, including program planning, grants administration, community outreach and connecting with retreatants, community organizations and other stakeholders. “As the fifth Director of the Cormaria Retreat Center, I stand humbly upon the shoulders of those women who proceeded me. Accepting this role with a joyful heart, my desire is to celebrate God's love and make that love known to others. Ever present in my daily approach will be to respond to the words of Pope Francis, from his encyclical Laudato Si, ‘Hear both the cry of the earth and the cry of the poor,’” stated Ms. McGovern.
Also joining the team at Cormaria as chaplain is Maryknoll Father Larry Lewis, M.M., who ministered in Taiwan and China for over 20 years. Father Lewis also served at Cenacle from 2014-2018 and currently serves as Spiritual Life Minister at Maryknoll headquarters and has an active retreat ministry.
