Court Date For Camp Counselors Accused of Overcrowding East Hampton Home Rescheduled

The original court date was scheduled for Monday.

The court date for the two camp counselors charged with 61 code violations at an East Hampton home earlier this month has been rescheduled after the duo did not appear at their arraignment on Monday, according to a report in Newsday.

Doris E. Rosen, 60, of Jericho, and David S. Skolnik, 32, of Plainview, who both pleaded not guilty to the charges, have been scheduled to appear at East Hampton Town Justice court on August 31, according to the report.

Nassau County Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs, the main shareholder of HCDC Holdings LLC of Glen Cove, the company that owns the home, told Newsday that the counselors did not appear because they are “running the camp,” until it ends on August 21.

The two counselors were charged with the violations after it was discovered that the local home was being illegally occupied by more than two dozen young adults, according to Town officials.

The East Hampton Town Ordinance Enforcement Department, assisted by the Town Police Department and Fire Marshal’s Office, executed a search warrant on August 5 to investigate suspected overcrowding and building code violations at a home located at 17 Ocean Boulevard.
