A winter storm watch is in effect across Long Island from Sunday morning through Monday afternoon, the NWS said. Total snow accumulations are expected to be between 10 and 13 inches, with wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour, the NWS said.
The possible snow totals increased "substantially," Jay Engel, meteorologist with the NWS office in Upton, told Patch.

"Blizzard conditions are possible," the NWS said. "Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. The combination of gusty winds and heavy wet snow could bring down tree branches."
