Driver Airlifted After 3-Car Crash Near Sag Harbor Line in East Hampton: Police

A car crossed over the double yellow line and struck two other vehicles, police said.

EAST HAMPTON, NY - A driver was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital Monday morning after a three-car accident near the Sag Harbor line in East Hampton, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael Sarlo, police responded to a call at 7:30 a.m. regarding a multi-vehicle accident on Rt. 114.

Three vehicles were involved in the accident, with a southbound vehicle crossing over the double yellow line and striking two oncoming vehicles, Sarlo said. The vehicle then flipped over, trapping the driver inside, police said.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was extricated by the Sag Harbor Fire Department's heavy rescue team, and airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital with "unknown serious injuries", Sarlo said.

There were no injuries to the operators of the other two vehicles, Sarlo said.

The road was closed for approximately one hour while emergency crews worked to clear the scene, Sarlo said.
