Drunk Driver Leaves Scene After Crash: Cops

He's facing felony charges after a prior DWI conviction and was held in lieu of $10K cash bail and $20K bond, police say.

EAST HAMPTON, NY — An East Hampton man drove drunk and then left the scene after a crash, police said.

According to East Hampton Town Police, Eduardo Vasquez-Dominguez, 33, was arrested on Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. after he was heading west on Montauk Highway and was involved in the crash.

He was then seen leaving the scene of the crash and failing to stop at 2 stop signs on Town Lane, police said.

Upon investigation, Vasquez-Dominguez was found to have the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, slurred speech, bloodshot, glassy eyes, and he was observed to be unsteady on his feet, police said. He performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests administered, police said.

He had a prior DWI conviction in 2010, police said.

Vasquez-Dominguez was charged with DWI, previous conviction of designated offense within 10 years, a felony, and operating a motor vehicle with .08 of 1% or more alcohol, previous conviction of designated offense within 10 years, a felony, police said.

Bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond and he was released into the custody of the Suffolk County Sheriff, police said.
